MALTA / PERMANENT RESIDENCE
Malta Permanent Residence.
Know the commitments.
The Malta Permanent Residence Programme combines eligibility checks, property obligations and government contributions. It grants residence, not citizenship.

The financial structure
The current official overview lists a €60,000 non-refundable administration fee, €37,000 government contribution and €2,000 donation. A qualifying home must be purchased for at least €375,000 or rented for at least €14,000 a year.
These amounts are not a complete quote. Card fees, qualifying adult-dependant fees, insurance, property expenses and professional fees may apply. The asset test is separate from spending requirements: €500,000 with €150,000 in financial assets, or €650,000 with €75,000 in financial assets.
Who might explore MPRP?
Eligible non-EU, non-EEA and non-Swiss applicants able to meet the asset, housing and due-diligence requirements. Applications must be handled through a licensed agent. Your enquiry helps us understand your plans before discussing a suitable next step.
Ongoing responsibilities
Qualifying property must be held for five years, with continued Maltese housing thereafter. Compliance monitoring and renewals of documents remain relevant. Ask for a full household assessment, including dependency rules, before making commitments.
What does residence mean here?
MPRP is not a Maltese passport programme. It does not automatically confer tax benefits or unrestricted permission to live or work elsewhere in Europe. Schengen travel and employment rights have separate conditions.
